Can Coral Be Uncovered During WC

Does it damage coral if they become uncovered during a water change? When I do a 20% WC on my DT, the water level drops to just below the top of the highest rock (it is flat like a shelf). Would it still be okay to place coral here? When the DT is full the surface of this rock is 7" under the waterline. I ordered the corals listed below and I want to get them at the right height placement (high, medium or low). Maybe put the bird's nest on the rock in question. Thanks for the help. Running three 125W chinese LEDs in a 120 Long AGA.

Nope, Mine do that all the time during water changes.

Many of my corals are high and dry (relatively) during water changes. They slime up a bit but never any damage.

Like everyone said they will be fine. I have left them out for about 45 mins once while making more water as one bucket of water I dropped and broke the bottom and spilled everywhere. Corals didn't even notice. Every like 10 mins I did splash them a little.

Yes it's called low tide. You will be fine.

There are a few corals like Gorgonians which will die from exposure, but by and large you don't find those corals for sale because they are not trendy enough.

As forreal said, most corals are adapted to cope with low tide situations where the may be out of water for a while.

Keep an eye on them though as many corals when exposed to air will slime up to keep themselves moist and protected.

It won't harm any of the corals one bit, the only thing that you never want to expose to air is sponges because the air gets trapped inside them causing them to die off
