Can dead polyps come back on acropora

I just received a very expensive rainbow splice frag. It has colored up really well but I just noticed a spot where 5 polyps are missing. Their holes are very empty. The color is good on the coral around the polyps. Sorry I am not at home so I can't take pictures, you will have to take my word for it. Can polyps come back or is this section doomed?

Other acros in the frag tank look good. Good parameters. 79 degrees, 0 ammonia on seneye, ph 8.3, 5 nitrate, 35 salinity. 9.5 dkh. It was in a 18 hr transit so. I let it settle in for a few hours after acclimating. Then gave 200 par, I did measure the par. It was in higher light 18 hrs before, could this have caused a problem?

It did color up nicely in the light so I thought it was on the up. I have since moved it over into less par.

Yes this acro need higher PAR.also from where you got his frag? Did you saw the mother colony?

Pieces of the ocean. They had a picture of the best looking splice on the planet. Whether that is the exact mother Colony is anybodys guess.
