My phosphates were 0,03 ppm only 7 days ago and nitrates were 18 ppm. 2 days ago, I fed pellets in the tank for nassarius snails. Which I never do but they seemed hungry.

This morning I tested and the phosphates were 0,28 ppm and the nitrates 18,5 ppm.

Can feeding pellets have such an impact on phosphates ? Or is this a testing error and I should test one more time ?

I don’t think that’s possible. Test again at the same time as Lasse said.

Pkay, so I tested again just now and got 0,06 ppm. Still a lot higher than before but makes more sense.

There was a lot more reagent in that package (Hanna) so I think the previous one the problem.

Learning every day ! :)

The difference between your two measurements (0.03 and 0.06) is lesser than the accuracy of the checker ±0.02 ppm. They are the same.

Sincerely Lasse

I updated this thread today with some new observations that I have noticed. It might provide you with some parallels.

I am at work so I haven’t been able to upload my charts yet.
