It looks like our heater was shut off, the corals look grave and the water is 58 degrees. Besides turning the heater on and slowly warming the water back to temp is there anything else we can do to save our tank? I am so upset.
Appreciate any help/feedback.

First of all, don't panic! I would warm the tank up at normal or slightly accelerated speed, not slowly. At least until you get the temps back into the 70s.

If you only have a few corals, you could pull them from your tank and move them to a bucket of normal temp water while you wait for your tank to warm up. Float the corals for 20-30 minutes, just like if you received a mail order shipment.

We had moved the tank in garage while we had floor done. We are in process of putting up a 180gal tank in our front room so we left tank in garage as we complete it. It has never been an issue until the heater was shut off. In 10+ years never had a temp issue, first time for everything and I HATE IT! Thanks for the reply. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for the reply. Already in panic mode! We have it warning--fingers crossed.

It may be a good idea to investigate why the heat went out and take steps to ensure it doesn't happen again.

I hope everything works out for you and welcome to R2R!!

Interested to see what survives with temps that low. Good luck, and keep us posted!
