Ive been slowly catching gorilla crabs from my tank. The one I caught this evening looks to have a large clutch of eggs. Just wondering if these things can breed in the aquarium? I would throw it in the sump where the rest of them are but I don't want it to release the eggs. Id figure the fish would eat them all but I don't want to chance it before getting more information.

I haven't had this problem. If you don't have any other choice, I would put them in the sump. keeping the eggs in the main tank, the fish would see the egg as another meal. Before attempting the sump, look up other possibles on the internet. Please let Reef2Reef family know the out come, we like pictures.

Here’s a pic of the crab with the eggs

Not sure if the eggs would hatch and survive or not but I wouldn’t take the chance and keep it in my sump. Looks like a tasty snack for a trigger or puffer

While I do not have specific experience with gorilla crabs, most crabs and shrimp and fairly long larvae stages that require proper flow and food. It's extremely unlikely they would be able to survive in a reef tank. Your pumps will kill them and the fish will absolutely love the extra food.
