I currently have one clown and one damsel in my 20gal tank. I was told today that I couldn’t add another clown because would fight? Let me know what you guys think??

How old is the clown? As long as both are juvenile it shouldn't be a problem. Issues only arise when there are 2 females. Juvenile clowns sort that out by the dominant of the 2 changes sexes to being the female.

Agreed, I put to unbonded juvenile clowns together, took them a couple of weeks to figure it out, now they are inseparable.

He’s only been in the tank for a week. No idea his age! I’ve heard to put a larger clown or smaller?

Small is best. Preferably from the same tank you got that one from if purchased from a group at you LFS

No longer than the first clown has been in the tank I think it should be fine, but with clowns you never know. I personally would try to get one of about the same size and add it sooner than later.

You’ll be fine just get a different size there might be some aggression but that’s normal the smaller one usually submits quickly in my experience

The tank is only 2 weeks cycled. Is this too early to add another?

I had a pair for 2 years then the male jumped. I added another smaller one and they are now together going on 2 years together. Make sure the new one is smaller and it should work out.

You can get a 2nd one, smaller if possible.

I also would recommend a second smaller one. No option is guaranteed and all options could work if the current fish is a juvenile, but imo smaller option is better. Good luck!
