Hi. I wish to add a blue maxima clam but don't want it ending up dead (or eaten) by my other tank inhabitants. I presently have some wrasses, damsels and shrimps. No hermit crabs.

Thanks

Nishant.

My parameters as last tested on 30th April are as under

SG 1.0225
- NO2 slightly under 0.3 mgpl
- NO3 25 mgpl
- ammonia 0 mgpl
- KH 10.9 dKH
- CA 400 ppm
- MG 1680 mgpl

Wrasses are

Banana x 1
Formosa x 1
Cleaner x 1

I also have

Yellow tail damsel x 1
Yellow belly damsel x1
Sweet lips x 1 (its small and I will exchange in sometime)
Diana hogfish x 1 (another one which is still small and going soon)
Maroon clowns x 2 almost 1 inch each

Well your NO2 and NO3 is a little high for their liking. Do a water change to get those down. Also they need tons of light so what kind of lighting do you have?

Also the banana and the camel are really risky. The banana will most likely nip at the clams flesh and the camel might also. If the clam gets stressed, it could get pinched mantle disease and die from it.

So the camel shrimps and banana wrasse need to go. what about the Formosa wrasse and fire red shrimps ? they are compatible with the clam ? I do have some soft corals which are left alone by all these fish aside from the one flower tree / pink cauliflower coral, which was dying and was ripped to bits and eaten by the camel shrimps.
