Hi folks I set up my new 182 litre tank 10 days ago now with 16 kgs of cured live rock and 2 bags of caribsea live sand, since Sunday I have been testing and have 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites and nitrates around 2.0, used Red Sea test kit to get these results, at the moment I have two hermit crabs a shrimp and 2 clown fish in a nano tank, do you think I will be safe to add these fish to the new tank now ?? First larger setup and don't want to lose everything, I realise once I get the fish in the new tank I will give it time before adding more fish but the wife is moanin bout 2 tanks bein setup in the lounge and would like tO get the room back to some sort of normality haha !!!!!

Thanks

I'd say your good to go. If you indeed used Cured Live Rock, your tank will not go through a cycle. And as you've stated, I just put those fish in, and wait a few weeks to introduce anything else. You might want to think about adding a few more kgs of LR just to get it up to the minimum of 1lb per gallon. Other than that, good luck, and happy reefing.

Perfect thanks, I have another 4 kgs of live rock in my nano tank at the moment so was just gonna add that into the new tank at the same time as the fish so that should bring me up to the correct amount, I take it it will be ok moving the rock from the nano tank to the new one ??

Seems way too soon IMO. I started my cycle 12 days ago and I still don't have enough nitro bacter to complete the conversion from nitrites to nitrates. Even if I did, I'd still wait a couple weeks.

Key words are Fully Cured Live Rock. It already contains the bacteria necessary to break down Amm and Trites. Whereas Curing Live Rock does not.

It does seem soon to me as well. Did you measure Ammonia during the 10 days? You may not have had any cycle due to the cured live rock or a very short one so maybe you got lucky. I'd add the CUC and see if they create any ammonia.

Yup, sounds like a plan. Won't hurt, and its already matured so it can only help.

There is still going to be some die off on the "fully cured" rock. But it's his tank and his money. I'd rather be safe than sorry. I agree with just adding the CUC right now.

You should be fine. I wouldn't add anything to crazy in case some sort of spike does occur, but it everything is already cured and all the levels are down i would throw in a CUC and maybe a fish or two to see how everything is doing. Then have fun from there.

Thanks for the replies folks, I have been testing from day 4 and have never had any ammonia but the nitrites were up about 0.7 and have now dropped to 0, that's what made me think it was cycled but I am a newbie and wasn't sure if this was to quick or not, appreciate the help :-))
