Is it ok for me to clean the algea off my glass using a dish cloth? I want to get the spores out of the system and the cloth will capture them.

What about one I’ve washed before but had nothing ever added but water and detergent? If the cloth is brand new never used out of the package with no chemicals added to it then it will be fine to use for cleaning.
I wouldnt. Kitchen sponges and towels are a cesspool for bacteria. When I worked at petsmart, we had a guy that had a huge freshwater cichlid system. Easily had thousands of dollars worth of fish. His entire system was wiped out because he used a dish sponge to clean the algae off the glass one night because he couldnt find his algae pad. Better safe than sorryWhat about one I’ve washed before but had nothing ever added but water and detergent?

Magic eraser is one of the greatest inventions next to the wheelI take a knife and slice a thin piece off a Magic Eraser (the kind without chemicals like Dawn or Febreeze added) and use that to clean the glass. You can get about 3 or 4 slices off one Magic Eraser.
