I have a 44gal breeder with about 25lbs of rock in it. Current stock is: 2 clowns, 1 diamond goby, 1 starry blenny, one target dragonet and a Blue Star Wrasse. Only aggressive tank mate is the starry blenny and only towards the diamond goby. Think I got room for one more buddy? Perhaps something that stays very small?

Would also point out that the right side of my rocks has a home dug out under it from the diamond goby that is currently unused.

No sump, maybe some inverts are a better option.

Usually rule of thumb is 10g per small fish. If you do water changes weekly you can probably get away with more.

Probably something smaller, I haven't really started looking yet. My bioload hits 10 ppm nitrates in about a 2 week span currently.

Gramma is a good one. I was stuck on orchid dotty, but royal (or black cap) gramma would be better.

If you can keep your nutrients in check- add away! Lol.
A royal gramma would be a nice addition.

Main concern would be the bio load in my opinion. If you system can handle it and you do t have aggression issues I would say it’s ok

You could even consider utilitarian fish or inverts-

file fish- keeps aptasia at bay if you encounter it and they eat regular foods too (at lease mine does)

6line wrasse- keep red bugs and flat worms out -

freshwater molly in salt water - they will pick at algae- not like a tang but does put in some work.
Your tank is too small for most tangs- but maybe a small Tomini or other bristle nose- but you would have to rehome as it gets larger.

for inverts- urchins are awesome! Great clean up crew. Sea Cucumbers eat detritus.

gramma's a rough choice IMO. they can get super bullyish.

Id go for dwarf angel or so more wrasse.

Great thinking.
The gramma will have some attitude, but only when others encroach on “their” cave. They don’t look for trouble and at most, will open mouth wide to look more menacing.

The firefish is another good choice but has the exact opposite attitude, a bit timid sometimes.
