3 years into this hobby, ups and downs and a big learning curve. Everything was finally settled in for 10 months, spent a long weekend away, with a tank caretaker. Came back to my finger leather severely retracted and my forest fire Monti with no polyp extension. That was two months ago. Parameters unchanged. Now a cyano breakout. Only difference. Took an exhausted polyfilter out, not sure if it really did any good anyway. Not asking for help. Just venting

Heh, i just finished finalizing my plumbing on my 280. Had it running on just a single return pump but of course if were doing it right I finished up and went dual return pump for redundancy and safety or so i thought.... some back story, recently my neighborhood has experienced weird brown outs due to some construction after an drunken idiot went 65 into the power pole. He walked away and I never thought a thing about them and the power always kicked back on after a min or so. Anyway came home to a lake on my floor after i forgot to raise the new return pump line to match the old. Reverse grav fed about 50 gallons on my faux wood floor. Floors are ruined now but thankfully i was planning on going polished and sealed concrete, I just didn't expect it to be this soon. Anyway, Its been 2 days and I wish I didnt have a sense of smell. Trying to pick up some check valves now to avoid this situation in the future. We all screw up buddy, just take it in stride. Have a good chuckle grab a beer and woooosaaaaaa

everything was fine in my tank as well until i left for a short vacation last week (had a sitter too). came back yesterday and almost all the sps are white and majority of other corals have lost a lot of color. two clownfish died as well... also venting :)

Unfortunately ups and downs and mishaps are a big part of this hobby. Using them as an I doctor to optimize ur setup or husbandry every time will lead to a more stable setup with time.
