I have a 55 gallon with 4 bulb T5 individual reflectors current USA lighting. The tank is years old and I have always loved carpets but I've never attempted one or thought about one until recently. Are they similar in care to sebaes?

Carpets are one of the hardest nems to keep. But you could certainly try one. You just never know.

Bit of a nem noob here, but my recollection is carpets can be very aggressive to other livestock. Is this true? If so be sure to think about what else is in your tank before you add a carpet...

That's true and I have a 2 foot area just for him

What type of "carpet" ? There are 3 species of hosting "carpets", each with different care.

How deep is your sandbed?
What do you have for flow?
What fish do you have in the tank?

Carpets are easy in my opinion. If a fish is dumb enough to swim in it then yes it will eat it. You need a nice 3-4 in sand bed for their foot and strong lights. I have mine under LED and one under MH.

You can tell a great deal about a man by the depth of his sand-bed, the quality of his flow, and the company he keeps.

My lil carpet just had his first tiny piece of shrimp. I've never seen something with no central nervous system eat so fast. Like a starving child. I believe these images demonstrate the importance of a think sandy substrate to S. Haddoni.

Lol. That would be sweet if he stays on the wall! And how big is he exactly? It may just be the angel but that clown looks bigger haha

I'm sure he'll move to the sand at some point but he's quite content to chill stuck to glass. For scale here he is with a nickel taped to the glass next to him.

That's the smallest carpet I've seen! You're going to have fun turning him into a monster!
