Hi, just saw about 1 hour ago that my blue tang was stuck /sucked on, to my circulation pump..
I dont know for how long she was on there, but turned off my pump instantly ofc.
she fell to the bottom almost directly, trying to fight it, but have been laying there since, just gasping... (only moving gills, not fins)

Can i do anything to help her recover, or should i just let her lay there and hope?

whats your experience, how ofthen does this happen and whats the recovery/death rate in these cases?

When fish get stressed they can do that. It's a good sign she's breathing. When my trigger was delivered I had issues getting him out of the styrofoam acclimation box. He kept biting into the foam. It was a pain to get him out and when he got into the tank he laid exactly how you're describing your tang for a couple hours. The only thing you might do is put some stress coat in there. Outside of that, it's just going to require some patience.

stress coat ?

ah nwm, googled it after i replied..

I dont have any of that

so i just leave her, and hope?

by "time", are we talking hours or days ?

thx, ill be back later with an update, thank you for the fast response

Unfortunately I’ve seen multiple times once a fish is on its side not swimming, there’s almost nothing we can do and it’s most likely going to die. Could be something internal or something external.

As mentioned healthy fish don’t get stuck like that. The term is moribund and you may not be able to do anything for the tang, but you need to go into damage control to ensure any other animals in the tank won’t meet the same fate.
If you post a short video and background information, we can review it for you. There is a link below my name here or at the top of the fish disease forum that gives examples of what info is helpful.

so far no change, laying at the same spot, just gasping, but for some reaspon my tomini has changed color to pale white/grey, hovering my blue tang (the injured one) dont know if the tomini is worried or waiting for a meaty meal..

-A video of what Jay?

Sorry - I meant a video of the fish and then the whole tank. Sometimes (not always!) that gives me some clue as to what the broader issue might be.

ok it took some work but got it..
as you can see i have an algea attack but i expect my remaining tangs to fix it..

-the 1st file is the video, she is still breathing, but just barely, gotta admint by now i dont expect recovery...
-the 2 other files is my tomini, on nov 10th & 14th thats the color change i mentioned
-if it matters, it was the bottom pump, she was stuck to when i saw her.

It is unfortunate to see this fish in current state. As mentioned by Jay, when it has gotten to this point, there is likely Little you can do for it. Stress coat- will do absolutely Nothing . It is literally aloe vera and simply restores slime coat on mainly freshwater fish- Nothing to do with stress management and a deceptive name for a product.
You can reduce light intensity a little and increase oxygen, but you may also find it will give fish comfort over cure.
Often high stress, crashing into an object or fighting to dislodge from a rock causes this.
Id be ecstatic to hear its looking better but as you stated- Hope level is minimal.

I actually had a similar issue recently, i had a large algae die off similar to what you have in the back.

my blue tang did not make it , i think ammonia spike.

i did move my clown to a hospital tank with just a bubble air stone no wave maker.

4 days later he recovered and is now back in the tank.

im running the full test program as we speak, but i dont think my algea are dying, i actualy have to scrape the of my glass.. they are realy thriving, which is also 1 of the reasons, i dared add 2 foxface, turned out my tomini and purple tang, didnt have a chance to keep up..

so, testet all i could, and all but nitrates looked fine, but thats sadly not news..
Mg 1400 ppm
CA 450 ppm
KH 12,6 dkh
Ammonia 0-0,1 ppm (2½ hour after feeding)
Po4 0,02
No3 +4.0 (tester didnt go higher)

i should make a water change, but not sure if thats a good idea right now, in my blue tangs condition

She is still hanging in there, trying to swim a little back and forward, and going to the bottom..

And for some reason, tomini is staying at her side and looks like its actualy trying to help her swim

There is some systemic problem going on here, it isn't just the blue tang. The clownfish in the video is breathing fast and doing that "mopey dance" that unhappy clownfish do. The tomini rocking back and forth also isn't right.

There seems to be a lot of organic material in the tank - do you have good aeration (not just circulation)?
When did you last add a new fish?
Have they been treated with anything yet?

Mag a little high (you want around 1300)
Alk a little high ( you want 8-11 dkh)

Not cause

WHAT TEST KITS ARE YOU USING ?

If it were me I'd make a batch of fresh saltwater in a 5g bucket. Get it to same temp as tank. Then put in an airstone. Then put your fish in and see what happens in 24hrs.

Good clean sw is like us getting pure oxygen thru a mask at the hospital

Smthg good or bad is probably going to show its face within 24hrs
