I have had a striped dogface for the past six months and he is my absolute favorite but I want to look into the possibility of keeping a striped dogface with a gold puffer. My striped dogface is about 4 inches maybe a little bigger I have found gold puffers ranging from 5-6 inches to even a 10 inch one. Any advice would be much appreciated.

also in the tank is a blue and yellowfin grouper/cod 4”, a slender grouper 4” , a jewel moray eel 20” , a snowflake eel 24”, porcupine puffer 5-6”, porcupine puffer 2”, white stripe squirrelfish 4”, and I am moving a 2” emperor snapper into the tank in the near future. Tank is 300 gallons

That's a delicate proposition, the tank is kinda getting crowded already with the type of fish you have, and the golden can get aggressive. Personally I wouldn't do it.

The puffer would be the last thing added and I was considering removing both eels and the second porcupine puffer. If I were to do this should I get one same size or smaller?

That does make it a bit more doable. I kept a golden that was not aggressive at all, he was the only puffer though. I only heard 2nd hand about their aggression. They usually come in quite large so if you can get a smaller one, I would. Maybe their large collection size and people putting them in smaller crowded tanks may have something to do with reports of aggression. 300g is a good size tank, just make sure they are not crowded.

Puffers and groupers is a pretty fantastic tank.

Thanks It’s not as crowded as it sounds eels usually stay on the bottom poking their heads out groupers weave in and out of the rock and the puffers stay out in the open.
