Hey guys. Anyone know what this algae is? Can I keep it? Looks pretty cool, almost like a balloon. Grew out of nowhere too.

I had that red algae and it caused no issues. You can keep it. When it gets big mine got orange growing tips.

It's called Dragon Tongue or others call it Red Dragon Breath.
Save to keep, beware if you have Tangs the will feast on it.

Tangs and Urchin eat it for sure. Especially the short spine urchins and yellow tangs. My Halloween urchin would snip off branches and carry them around on the back. Till it was gone unfortunately.

It is called Nemastoma, and if you'd like to sell it, I will pay $$. PM me.

It will most likely be eaten in your tank of you have tangs, so if you'd like to make some $$ be for its gone, let me know.

thanks for the info guys, glad to hear I can keep it. @The Macro Guy sorry I'm all the way in Trinidad in the Caribbean, I doubt it will even be worth the shipping cost to get it to you and it may not survive that long of a trip either..

Yeah that would be a little too much $$$ on shipping lol. Congrats on your find. I'm starting to think it's non existent in the US.

lol. I don't even know how it ended up in my tank. The last addition was months ago and its growing on a little zoa covered rock that was in there from the beginning
