Kind of a odd question but here it is. I see one of my fish in quarantine as ich. I will execute tank tansfer method on all the QT fish.

here is the twist. I use chaeto to filter my QT. I would just toss I don’t have any other right now. In 2 weeks when I need to put them all back I. The QT I am trying to figure out if I can use the chaeto

soak in vinegar for a while? Any ideas?

COVID19 means I Can’t just go hunt another clump of chaeto. I guess I could order on the web for $$$

After you remove the fish from the QT keep the chaeto in there for another 76 days with no fish. Make sure to ghost feed to keep nutrients availale for the chaeto to stay alive. If you are running TTM you cannot transfer the chaeto or any other "wet" and non-sterilized equipment.

Thanks. I need to put fish back into QT so I cannot wait for a fallow period. I’ll be cleaning and sterilizing the QT.

No ideas to sterilize chaeto without killing it?

Macroalgae including chaeto, dip with something like Coral RX to remove pods like critters and isolate the chaeto for 16 days to starve off Ich parasites. I use a couple of 5 gal buckets with freshly mixed saltwater, powerhead for circulation, heater, ambient room light is ok but a small aquarium light is better. Dip and change to different bucket every couple of days.

Would TTM work? Should shorten the time vs 76 day fallow period. I was thinking of using TTM in the future for inverts / cheato.
