just added a bubble tip nem to my tank, my clowns have hosted the pulse xenia sine day one (about a year ago) clowns are more than likely tank bread. is there any chance they would ever go to the nem.? could i personally do anything to encourage them?

remove the nem, and clown, place them both in a small container, if he's willing to accept it, it will happen in that scenario.

depends on type. if they are maroons, there's a small chance they might jump ship, but fish are creatures of habit too. before trying pumarjr's solution, you might want to print out a picture of a similar BTA superimposed with the desired clown and tape it to the tank. works if they aren't hosting at all, so maybe it'll make them wise up. good luck.

I love the thread title....Take them out and look them in their eyes and tell them if they know what's good for them they will get in that nem....lol

best of luck....I am transferring to a 75g and clowns and a nem will be the only thing in that tank for awhile to encourage hosting.

Is the xenia confined to a rock that can be removed? If you have somewhere to temporarily house your xenia then taking away their preferred host might get them to show interest in the new anemone?

I've found that stressing the clowns by placing them in a QT for a couple weeks then putting them back into the DT seems to help. They seem to run right to the nem bc they revert to their instincts.
