Setting up my new tank this weekend. Id like to put the dry sand and dry rock in the tank prior to filling with water.

With that said, can i fill the tank with ro/di over a couple of days, then mix salt in?

there are no living creatures, and dead rock and sand so im not worried about harming anything, but how can i be sure that the salt mixes instead of just falls to the sand bed and sits in the sand? Or is that a non issue?

Let me know your thoughts!

Thanks

As long as there is no livestock in the tank, mixing the salt in the tank is perfectly acceptable :)

Thats what i always thought but ive never tried it with sand already in the tank. Thanks for this!
If you get your sand and rock and everything in the tank, turn your pumps on full blast and slowly add the salt and keep your pumps on full blast to mix it all up.

Could you do it ... yes , perfectly safe with no live stock in the tank . Would I do it ? ...no. Just because it would take longer to get the salinity to the desired levels . waiting for the salt dissolve and adding more or less when you over or under shoot the targeted levels. How many gallons we talking ?

125 gallon display 34 gallon sump before displacement. Plus I would rather have it take time adding salt than mixing buckets and stuff. It's already gonna take 2+ full days to fill the tank with rodi
