So a local LPS we’re selling Kessil A160WE Tuna Sun cheap… like really cheap. So I got them thinking to use it on mangroves possibly.
But then I got an idea to use them as filler lights to eliminate SPS shadowing. So my question is will this work? I really don’t care if my SPS sticks look ugly till my tank upgrade move.
I currently have Radion G6 XR30 Pro with AB+ setting at 35%. Does the full spectrum interfere with the AB+ setting? Or is it not worth the shot? Thanks

Yes it will totally mess up your spectrum, not to say you can't do this but you'll have one weird looking tank.

I am sure you are far along in this project but still thought of leaving a comment : Tuna sun most probably will have full spectrum (I use it for my refugium). Now If you want to use it for your acro's you can only thing is red - green lights in it will increase your algae. So if you have special controller then its definitely worth it.

Do share how did it go for you.

The polyps in the shaded areas opened up more and started to see new grow tips emerge. As expected the glass on the full spectrum light side grew algae quicker, hence more scraping. But in the end; it did do its job it filled the shaded areas and got polyps to come out. It’s almost as if the sticks want to grow towards the more bluer side with their patterns lol.

I should have bought two xr15s instead of rx30. I feel like the spread/coverage of corals is just as important for their growth

I agree - I have 2 64HD and I always think i should have used 4 32HD's - but i used my first blackbox light as a supplement in this case for one part of tank which was recieving shading due to restriction on where lights can be hung
