I have a dead brain coral that has polyps and a mushroom growing on it , but it has green bubble algae . I want to take the brain coral out to get the algae off, but can I move the polyps and mushroom successfully without killing them ?
Thank you !

I would just go the natural route and get a couple of emerald crabs to clean up the bubble algae.

Thank you, I've done the Emerald crabs before, and they won't go near it . I guess they don't want to climb up the brain coral lol :)

What size tank? My sail fin desjardine tang loved bubble algae, as well as my Caribbean blue tang. Emerald crabs don't work for me either.

Other option is pull the rock out and splash some hydrogen peroxide on it for a minute then rinse in saltwater prior to returning the rock to the tank. It won't hurt the polyps, but I'm unsure on the shroom. I would bet the shroom will be fine to. Only caution is if you have a skunk cleaner shrimp they don't do well with even a trace of the peroxide getting back into the tank.

Within a couple days, the bubble algae will rot right off, you can vacuum it off. You can use that on all your rock but I would only do about one per week or so as you'll kill any bacteria on the rock as well.

Also your corals are really stretching to get more light!
