Can I plug my surge protector into this safely?

I have my apex jr and an EB8 bar plugged into a surge protector which is plugged into a regular outlet. Could I use this to provide the gfci protection I know I need?

Yup, you can do that. Technically, they are not rated for continuous use. I would probably try to find something better for long term use, but it is just fine for now. I keep on near my tank for trouble shooting. If one of my 2 main GFCI circuits would trip I would use it to check components separately.

Thanks. I had a gfci installed on the other side of the tank but the apex jr tripped it every time. I realized that the electrician who put it in didn’t notice that there was a gfci outlet on the other side of the wall that covered the original outlet. When I plugged in the Jr, the outlet on the other side tripped. That’s how I figured it out. So I’m planning to find a new electrician, add the gfci to the outlet I’ll be using this for, and have him remove the one on the other side that was protected in the first place. Does this make sense?

Thanks. I had a gfci installed on the other side of the tank but the apex jr tripped it every time. It’s less than a year old. If it does trip the GFCI, I’ll call Neptune and see what they can do.

Unfortunately, Neptune likely won't cover it under warranty if it got any salt spray in it. I'm not sure if you can pull it apart and clean it around the power outlets.

I've been using that same adapter for the last month with zero problems and zero trips to support a full Apex Classic with approx 2 amp load. Unfortunately, I'm in an apartment and can't replace the outlet with a GFCI, so this is what I'm stuck with until I find something a little better.

I sent the Jr. to Neptune today. I miss it already. They turn it around very quickly but I’ll probably be without it for a week.
