Can I put this in my reef tank?

I found a bunch of this at my beach today and was wondering what it was and if it could be used in a similar way to chaeto. It looks much darker red in person.

Yes but it will need high flow.

Thanks! I have a jbj 45 so if I keep it contained in eggcrate at the top of the first chamber where the water pours into the back will it do ok? Also will this be beneficial similar to chaeto and absorb some extra nutrients out of the water?

I don't. I have found that on my frags before in the frag tank and it's more annoying than anything else lol but everyone has their own desired look
