Can I run my heater inside my refugium?

Hi! This is my first tank. I am doing a 29-gallon mini reef with like 3 fish and a small cleanup crew. I am planning on buying an all-in-one hang-on protein skimmer/media filter/refugium to go behind the tank (https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/aquamaxx-hf-m-hang-on-back-multi-filter-with-protein-skimmer.html) I was wondering if I can place the heater inside it sharing space with the refugium algae or will that damage the algae and/or heater.

I already have a hang-on-back filter the tank came with.
The heater that came with the tank was terrible so I am getting this one (https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/ultra-heater-aquael.html).

I would say you are fine. My biggest concern I have for you is ‘where is the probe’. I would want the heater after the temp probe so that you don’t get artificially high reading being next to the heater.

I have two analog magnesium style aquarium thermometers at different points inside the display portion of the tank.

Plug the heater into the same power strip, as the pump, so you won’t overheat, melt anything if the pump is off. I was doing a water change, had the pump off, suddenly smelled burning. At first I thought it was a light, I moved. It turned out the heater was above water, and was cooking.

I have my return pump on ceramic media and the heater on the return chamber bottom. Impossible to come out of water for this exact reason.
