I had a blue hippo with ich last week, gold had small sports too. I dosed 20mL of cupramine on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday - on Saturday my tank read 0.25 according to selifert cu test. My tank is fish only, 210 gallons.

My blue has shown a lot of improvement and my gold is fine, nobody has ever shown any signs of anything so I added cuprisorb to the sump yesterday. How long do I have to wait to run my uv? It’s a Pentair 40W

Are you treating in your display tank?
Yes - I thought I’d treat the tank since more than one fish showed external signs (no symptoms. Eat like pigs with selcon and garlic) nobody else has shown any signs visible or non visible

If it was me I’d run UV at 150 GPH to kill it

I guess I can’t cuz it’s ionic copper vs chelated copper
dont run uv at all when using copper, maybe some its okay, but from my understanding it turns it into a new compound 10x more toxic than copper already is to fish.

Am I good to fire it up? Attached is photos of test from Thursday. I’m only asking cuz I read that rocks and sand absorb copper so I don’t want to kill my fish haha. Cupramine + salifert test

you dont want to run uv with cupramine, i have no experience with that test i use hanna checkers. if that means zero then i would run cuprisorb for a month or so after first zero reading and then continue using uv. on another note i would run my uv only when needed, example: spot of ich on tang=1 week of uv then if still there another week then turn back off until needed. you can over sterilize to the point you start to lose some valuable microorganisms

Good to hear. i haven’t ran my uv since early December, the first reading of zero on was over a week ago. Cuprisorb and carbon have been in sump for 3+ weeks now

That is not true...

That would defeat the main purpose of having a UV in the first place...

maybe ive been told alot of wrong information then....was told only run it when needed bc itll put a dent in copepods and algaes etc.

Completely false fairy tail legend's. UV doesn't effect copepods at all
