Please help! I have a flame fin tomini tang that’s not doing well. It is pretty skinny, it arrived like that, but I didn’t think it was a problem. He is in qt with an Atlantic blue tang, and I think he may have been keeping him in hiding and not letting him eat. Now he isn’t able to swim very well and he is laying on the bottom. He is able to swim fairly well still, but he’s not doing well. I just transferred him to his own tank and dosed him with copper, kanaplex, and metroplex. Should I try a freshwater dip? Is there anything else I can try? From my description, do y’all think he is too far gone and I should just leave him be?

Any help is appreciated!! Thanks in advance!!!!

A pic would help.
Have u tried feeding him since you isolated him?

Do you see any other syptoms such as spots, flashing etc?

If not, I would remove the copper and see if he will start eating. I would not fwd unless.you suspect heavy fluke infestation. If you do want.to dip I think a rally dip would be better.

Keep a close eye on ammonia

If he came in skinny it may be possible he has internal pathogens. He might be eating, but intestinal worms absorb all the nutrients and the fish gets nothing. Try isolation out of copper (known appetite suppressor) and feeding food soaked in general cure and seachem focus.
You'll want to also feed this to any fish that has come into contact with the possible sick fish.

Yes I’ve tried feeding him with an eye dropper. He just spits it out

Ok, thanks! I dosed the copper at low dose just Incase he had something, but I’ll remove it. I will hold off on the fwd as well. I also have an ammonia alert badge in the tank.

I have a 3-4 inch yellow tang, and a 1 inch blue tang. I thought the yellow tang was bullying it so it wouldn't eat, so I separated them with some Styrofoam. Well, the blue tang swam to the other side with the yellow tang. Soooo, I dosed prazipro (I didn't get to do a FW dip bc package was delayed). Guess what? It was flukes. Now they both swim together. The blue tang is like a different fish.

I agree. He also has white stool, doesn’t that usually indicate parasites? He won’t eat right now, so I dosed metroplex in the water. In the past week, he has eaten a little bit of bribe shrimp soaked with focus and metro.

Hmm, I might dose prazi then. But he has been through two rounds of prazi already

Combining all those medications is very stressful on the fish and is definitely a appetite suppressant.

- How long have you had the tang?

- Why did you choose to medicate with copper, kanaplex and metro?

- Have you noticed aggression between the fish?

- What are your water parameters?

- I have had the fish for about a week and a half
-I didn’t treat the qt with all of those. I usually only treat with one at a time. I’m just trying to save him so I dosed those in low doses
-no not really aggression, but the blue tang bosses everyone around
-nitrate, nitrite, ammonia:0 ph: 8.0 salinity:1.023 temp: 76

Reduce stress as much as possible by reducing light and keeping water quality pristine. Test daily especially ammonia if the QT has not cycled.

Also dosing medications should be done at proper levels for the allotted amount time suggested or its pointless and just adds unneeded stress to the inhabitants.

Ok, thank you very much for the suggestions!
