Can I see your bare bottom (Reef tank!)

Here ya go!

Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll ever go bare bottom. This is due to my love for a specific family and I would hate being limited to just 4 genera (2 of which are highly secretive).
Besides, I could never give up these guys due to how much of a pain it was to get hold of them (Let alone ones that were healthy).

Cut it out, look at the picture of the bare bottom 20 gallon I posted. I've had 2 sand dwelling anemones living in it for more than 2 years( in containers of gravel).

Again, this was my personal preference. A fish is slightly different to an anemone as well.
Temporarily a tub of sand will work but long term it’s just not suitable for wrasses that need sand.

Hey everyone,
I’m looking for some inspiration, as my third 20g has arrived and this time I’m going bare bottom! Would love to see what you all have done with yours with regards coral along the bottom.

Show me yours and then I may show you mine!

Here is mine. To be fair, I did just fill it up today.

Looking forward to seeing yours come to life! Hopefully I can go bare bottom in the future (Been postponed further now I’m getting a pistol shrimp for both tanks).

Bare bottom is the only way to do it!

I dont have allot of coral along the bottom only because I'm keeping it open, but I wouldn't mind having it loaded with coral also. In time I will probably fill it up when I have a dedicated frag tank.

I use abs to line the bottom and I believe it to be a good way to go bare bottom, it protects the bottom and better yet the abs attracts coraline algae growth to start sooner, and corals to grow to it very well with a little bit of texture.
What a nice looking tank :astonished-face:
