Can i soft plumb a bean animal overflow box?

I wanted to know if it was possible to soft plumb a bean animal style overflow? It would be the synergy reef overflow and how would i go about doing it?

Soft plumb, as in flexible tubing? I don't see why not.

Flexible PVC will be easiest, as you should be able to use pvc cement directly on the fittings. I would recommend using hard fittings and pipe inside the overflow box, just for simplicity, otherwise out side the box would be easier with flexible tubing...

Yess i will definetly pvc the inside of the box and could you show me a link to the flexible tubing? Thank you!
 
I also don't see any reason why not. I would add that I find it easier to hard plumb an overflow though. Flex tubing at that size gets hard to bend, and hard to hold in place. With overflows you often don't have anything holding it at the end, and many people put filter socks over them. Hard plumbing makes all this easier.

If your circumstances are unique, then of course there are ways to get around this, but otherwise you might consider just using hard plumbing.

I hard plumbed mine. It's just more planning to run the bean animal with the 3 drains. It was my first time fully plumbing a system together and I'm pretty proud of it. I did use flex PVC in the returns to avoid 90s but I kinda wish I'd just hard plumbed the whole thing. This system will go salty this weekend

It's 1.5" coming out of the shadow and both the main siphon drain and emergency drain stay at that diameter. The secondary drain reduces down to 1" I used a small piece of flex PVC at the end of that to connect to the sump input. Excuse the rags on the pipe. I hadn't glued the e drain yet and there were drips every once in a while from testing
 
Hard plumbing with unions makes it easy for maintenance as well as support for your main overflow gate valve. Check out the pvc surface mounts on BRS, I found them very useful. If you have a tight space, hard plumb may be even easier since the flexibility is limited with flexible tubing. Solvent fitted pipe and tubing is also much more durable and does not rely on mechanical fittings, other than the unions of coarse, but those are pretty fail safe in most cases. for 1.5" sched 40 pvc, measure the distance from fitting to fitting, adding 5/8" per side. So dist between fittings + 1 1/4" inches and your done. once you cut the pvc, draw a pencil line 5/8" back on each side and insert your pipe to the line. Dry fitting (not to the lines, it will be hard to get apart) put a pencil line on the pipe and fitting for orientation. Pull back apart, apply glue, push pipe in while turning till both the 5/8" depth line on the pipe meets with the edge of the fitting, and both orientation lines are aligned.
