I found that lights are expensive and looked at 300w grow lights for my aquarium for $70. Can I use them?

Yes, you can...

BUT, those grow lights are for growing plants. I was just looking at the specs for one today, and I have good macro growth with that spectrum (no way to say it is the same as what you looked at)... Also, usually these lights have a red tint to varying degrees, which, to me, is not very appealing to look at all the time...

Anyway, what are you hoping to keep in your tank? (just fish, soft corals, zoas, lps, sps, macros etc)

If you're trying to grow corals in this tank, don't go with lights that are designed for growing plants. The technology isn't that different between the lights but spectrum will be out of whack for corals. If you're looking for really inexpensive LED options to grow healthy corals, consider the "black box" light fixtures you can find on amazon. I'm sure they're pretty similar to the LED grow lights you were referring to and they're priced between $100 and $150 depending on the brand.
