Can I use my dry rock rubble

I have a lot of rubble and (sand) from breaking my dry rock during my aqua scape project. Can I put it in a mesh bag and put it in the back of my Red Sea al in one system where my carbon bags are??

You can rinse it in saltwater if it gets covered in gunk
