Can i Use other methods with a refugium?

Hi all,
I have just began the triton method, but have accidentally gotten the other methods cartons. I have a refugium 10% of my total volume. Will using the other methods have any negative effects other than the chaeto growing slower ?

It won’t cause any issue. You can swing right into the regular core7 when you get them.

Your welcome! The 4 parts Are identical except the regular version has some added refugium boosting additives.

I did it the other way round ....I'm on other methods and got the core7 by mistake ..I have no refugium ..there was also no ill effects and I just got the right one the next time

Great! By the way could you suggest a starting dosage for this? The system is a pretty much fully stocked reefer 250, consuming about 60 mls of each tropic marin balling solution. My kh currently sits at 7, should I raise this before starting or raise it using the triton core 7?

I would start at what Triton recommends...I think its 20mleach bottle with the core7 ...just test every day if it drops up the dose ...

I just reread your post .....if your already dosing 60 ml ...then 20 might be too little

I have an 80g frag/grow out full of SPS and it’s pulling 28mls a day currently.

Oh one last thing haha. When I'm making up 3a and b, can I just put both powders together and mix with 960x2 ml (1920ml)? Or do I have to mix 3a with 960ml then 3b with 960ml and them Mix the two together?

Thanks again

I would mix the powders together and then add it to 1000ml of RO, mix, then top of the container up to 2000ml.

Having mixed 3a and 3b together myself, I will not do this again. The combo solution has eventually become cloudy. I noticed that the tubing is also cloudy and I’ve had to recalibrate that particular dosing pump a couple of times. Technically triton does not recommend combining the two either.

These issues may be a reason why triton sells them as separate mixes (3a 3b).

I personally do it this way now also. Because of the ability of a 5 head dosed.

Also once I'm up to 2000ml I then double dose this don't I?

Hmmm dang it just mixed together now will keep an eye out
