"pre-mix....then use it from storage..."

Urban reefer here. Looking to free up a little kitchen space...

I'm wondering if it's safe to pre-mix and store the seawater in 5 gallon buckets with the lids firmly attached. Then when I water change I'll do the usual steps, air stones, heater, powehead before using the mix.

Is this an acceptable method? If not, for sake of understanding the hobby, why not?

Have a great evening!

No reason why not.
I don’t heat nothing when making 10-15% water changes, little effect on temp maybe .5 degree.
I might give it a quick spin before deployment.

That would work.

One think to consider is manufacturers recommendations. Some brands store poorly for prolonged time, presumably due to precipitation of some "ingredients", usually affecting alkalinity. Salt might be still OK to use, but params will be bit different.

I mix my salt with a small powerhead in 5 gallon buckets for 24 hours and then store them with the lids on and use when needed…they stay at room temp so I don’t heat them before use…but I also don’t have them sitting for more than a couple weeks at a time before they are used and replenished
