Can I use tap water for QT?

Kworker, your totally right on that ive done the math, and i am the dummy who hasnt picked one up. its 25 cents a gallon here, and i love checking out the LFS anyway(its kind of an excuse). I've sadly been reefing for 7 years and never got a RODI system. haha.

I just more so would never suggest tap water unless you know the local treatment centers water quality, just pay $5-10 for water and mix it, someone else mentioned tanking water from your DT tank which is definitely a good idea, thats what i did for a friends tank he started.

You are right about the tap water and local treatment centers. I actually should of specified that I am fairly lucky that my towns water is filtered. I get only about 20-30 TDS going into my RODI unit. Which is why I actually use my tap water for fish only purposes.

Thanks guys for your help! You are right,I will get a RO system as soon as possible,it is a must have if you have a reef aquarium.. it will be easier on all levels,i didn't mention also that I should carry all my ro water from the car up 3 floors lol. For my DT WC it has been a while I didn't change my water because my water is always very clean(in the DT tank),reefers here on the forum, told me not to change the water to get some nitrate because my tank is mainly LPS and it seems that they don't like clean water. Thanks again guys! :) have a great summer week-end !
