hello,
i am planing now on a new project on building frags tank total of +1000G of tanks
it might be around 4 system
but i want to ask about the glass
i had normal glass before and it creak on me
so i saw that tempered glass is much stronger
can i use tempered glass on aquarium or there is a problem ?
size will be 80" * 60" * 14"
or i might change it to 80" * 40" * 14"

so if it work i will cut the glass and drill everything then will make it tempered

Yup just confirmed that with a quick Google search. Since the glass goes through a hardening process it actually makes the whole thing more brittle. Where normal glass could chip, a pane of tempered glass will completly shatter under the same circumstances

I don’t think that would work. You’ll have to order what you need.

yes i will drill and cut everything from the glass company
then they will make the possess to make it tempered
but i want to make sure its ok to use in the aquarium

I think that’s huge !
and will be a lot of pressure pushing outward . Bracing of some sort should be incorporated .
Build the whole tank in a wall similar to a crate .

yah i will add bracing on the top of the glass
as well as around the tank from all the sides

i can't but all of them to the wall
this is a look i am going to it

Yes, as @KStatefan said, lots of tanks have tempered glass. It's pretty common for the bottom panel. But....

Crack? Why did the glass crack on you? Because of thickness? Bracing? Stand construction?

i am thinking or 8mm or 12mm
still not sure what do i need
what do you think ?
This is a big project. I wouldn't go any smaller than 12 mm (1/2") for a tank that size, and only that thin if the tank is rimmed. Rimless tanks need thicker glass and are constructed differently. Hopefully, you know what you're doing.

oh the tempered only for the bottom ? or all the tank ?

my old frag tank the bottom has cracked i am not sure what was the problem
it was about 60" * 24" * 14" and using 8mm normal glass crack after around 8 month and was bracing from all the side
stand is Stainless steel

i will cheek the company if they have more than 12mm i might use it its better or i might devide the tank tow 2 tanks next to each other

You can use tempered everywhere if you want. It's common among the mass-produced tanks to have a tempered bottom, but not to have tempered sides.

8 mm glass (about 5/16") for a 60x24" footprint does not sound safe to me. 10-12 mm (3/8ths to 1/2") is more common for the standard 125 gallon (72x18) and standard 180 gallon (72x24"). Although a shorter tank would have less pressure on it. I would get a professional aquarium building company's opinion on glass thickness for your build.

Tell us about the bottom panel and stand: Does the bottom panel sit directly on the stand, or is the tank tank rimmed with a floating bottom? Is the entire bottom supported by the stand, or just the edges? Are you using any kind of matt between the stand and tank?

from where i am there is no company for aquariums
so everything will be done by me
for installing there is someone i know he can install the tank but don't have lot of information about the size and like this

so for the large one i will use 12mm to be in the safe, and only the bottom and all the other side will be normal glass

the stand i was using i add wood only i think this is my problem i didn't put mat under it
the rim was around the edge as well

here is some photo of the tank when i first got it

My 12mm recommendation would be for a 60 x 24" with a top and bottom rim/frame.

Your design looks rimless. And at 80 x 60" will most likely need to be much thicker glass, but it depends on how it is put together.

This is a big project. Hopefully someone with some large tank building experience will chime in.

yes but new one i will add some support in the top its much better
glass will look to something larger than 12mm if i can find in the company
but for the tempered if i use it all around is it going to support more or not recomanded ?
