Hi I was wondering if Randy Holmes-Farley could see if these 30 gal containers can be cleaned out (and if so how) so I could use them to store RO and SW?? Thanks!

I won't use any container unless it is labeled as food grade. For example, Brute Garbage Cans are labeled as...
  • Meets NSF 2, 21 approval and USDA meat and poultry group listed, ensuring regulatory compliance for food storage and clean ability
Brute G. cans come in different sizes to meet most aquarium's needs as well.

But...that's just me.

Those are holding a lubricant I wouldn’t use those if it was all I had. For a few bucks get a brute of food grade container. Not a place to cut corners.

Thanks everyone! I’ll take them back and get some the smaller ones that had Dr.Pepper syrup in them. I got these because they were larger and in better condition.
You could also check with Ecolab - to determine what could be used to make sure all the residue is gone. That said. it says under 'ecological effects ' Longterm harmful to aquatic life - so I definitely wouldn't use it unless you could get some advice from the company (PS - my guess is they will say don't use it).
