I am always SPS dominant but I want to add some lobos to my sand bed. Can these touch eachother?

Any specific tips or anything, I would appreciate

In my experience, yes they can.

Here are 3 that I clumped together about a year ago; they're growing.

Here's another more recent grouping.

They have been extremely hardy in my tanks.
They get about 100 PAR.
I don't spot feed them, but I do broadcast feed both tanks reef roids and oyster feast at night.

I would say yes with caution.I prefer to keep mine about 2 inches apart. So far,so good.

lets get a bump on this. I am not sure if my lobos can touch, I seemed to notice one was hurting the other one. Looking for some more opinions on this and pictures :)

Yeah, unfortunately I have to amend my last statement.
2 days ago, I got a new lobo that has a slightly different morphology than my others.
Didn't think anything of it at first and put it between and touching 2 lobos that got along fine with each other (as pictured).
Within an hour, I noticed it had extended mesenterial filaments to both others and started to attack them.
Quickly removed it and put it somewhere else by itself.
The two slightly damaged lobos are healing up already.

So maybe there are different lobo species, not all Lobophyllia hemprichii?
This was news to me. You must have encountered the same thing. Very sorry about that!

Edit: Did yours happen to be from Aqua SD? The new one of mine that attacked the others was from their recent sale.
But most of the other ones were bought from them as well.

Yeah maybe that is the case, like I said this is my first lobo, I am all SPS dominant besides them but I wanted something for the sand bed.

Yes they are all from AquaSD

My green and blue lobo can touch nothing without killing it. My others in the past have been less touchy about being touched. I think it will depend on the actual species. I always keep my corals apart except my acan lords.

Yeah I guess I will have to watch closely to see if they can touch if I do try it.
