Can mag be this high

My test kit shows mag at 1850. Can it be this high if I'm not dosing mag?

Well I would say it's a testing error. What are your other levels

I would think it's an error.I checked several times. Alk is 8.0 pH 7.8 and Cal reads 440

Well I for one don't trust Red Sea mag test I had to many bad experiences with it.

I just bought the red sea kit and I think I agree with you. Never tested mag before.

If you can I would get a next kit and test not Red Sea.
By the was how did you get 1850 ? (Did you refill and kept going ?)

I would get Salifert Mg kit and stick with it. I mean use it to cross check the Red Sea Mg kit.

Also, for the red Sea kit only, make sure you stop as soon as you see a blue color. It will most likely go back to violet/purple. Don't keep going.

Most all other test kits you keep going until it stays blue. (Some may show grayish instead of blue.)
