Can Mushrooms Bleach from Too Little Light?

Is this possible? I ask, because I have a mushroom box with a few varieties in it, and some of them have gotten much paler in recent weeks. I realized that the lid was basically 100% covered in coraline, so I just scraped it all off. Additionally, I’ve had my lights turned pretty low to deal with dinos.

Anyone have any insight? Thanks!

My experience is that mushrooms can bleach under any situation/variable they don’t like.

I have a kryptonite shroom that has done horrible for years now right next to jawbreakers, candy crush, and Deadpool’s that are thriving.

it shriveled up and is somewhat bleached but won’t die. I fear moving it at this point just because it seems to be in such a fragile state.

Gotta try things when they are not doing well.

I think you’re right. I think in my case, it might be because I upped my temperature a few degrees over the past few days. I see other people mentioning mushrooms going pale when their temp spiked.

if the light is too little, you would have noticed them stretch, and i mean really visibly stretching towards the light.

I inherited a richorda mushroom that was on the verge of bleaching from a tank that had a busted heater. Temp to 89 before the owner realized. I know have it on the substrate low light area, generally recovering. I haven't seen it extend itself but it seems to be getting some color back. I'll take a pic in the morning for reference.

All in all most bleaching events happen because of temp, but too high par could also be the culprit. I typically keep all of my mushrooms in the 150-200 par range depending on the shroom. I find that discos in my tanks like the 200 range par, the other ricoridas, and rhodactis typically in the mid-range of that.
