I have some orange and white mushrooms in my tank, and they aren’t anything super special.... but I also have a small colony of jawbreakers. Recently I’ve noticed some baby mushrooms around my jawbreakers, that are orange and white. Now I concede the possibility that they’re the other mushroom that have just colonized near the jawbreakers.... but they look an awful lot like jawbreakers with white splotches. So can mushrooms swap zooxanthellae and five colors to other mushrooms that they normally wouldn’t have?

before anyone asks, I don’t have pics, as they aren’t in a easy place to get good pics, and currently are very small, which makes ID a bit harder.

Zooxanthellae is a brown algae.
I think you are talking pigments and proteins that cause the different colors in coral..
