Not an issue. Assure it gets moderate light and flow. Too much flow will cause flesh to bend and tear off and even get bacterial disease. Also calcium should be no less that 380 for their skeletal health
My calcium is 450, alk 7.2, salinity is 1.026 temp is 77F. I got it around 4 weeka ago maybe more. It was sitting in a 90 par area. I got a frogspawn put it on top right of it not shading it. Now one days it started to retract and it closed and i couldnt get it to open anymore. Its driving me nuts. Its been vclosedNot an issue. Assure it gets moderate light and flow. salinity best at 1.025 and alk is low- bring to at least 7.8-8.0My calcium is 450, alk 7.2, salinity is 1.026 temp is 77F. I got it around 4 weeka ago maybe more. It was sitting in a 90 par area. Is that the reason my hammer is not open alk is low?salinity best at 1.025 and alk is low- bring to at least 7.8-8.0
Best ranges are :
Temp 77-79
ph 8.1-8.3
salinity 1.024 - 1.025
nitrate < .10
phos < .04 - .06
Ammonia < .03
mG 1300 - 1350
Alk 8-11
CA 400- 440

Can very well beIs that the reason my hammer is not open alk is low?
Tested my calcium this morning with salifret and it was 490 tested alk with hanna checker and its 7.2 i use tropic marin salt. I dont know what to do? My alk was always the same. And the hammer was open for 4 weeks its just i dont kno my nitrate and phosphate bottomed out like a week ago they were both 0 now im dosing brightwell to get them back. Can very well be
Alk and CA work together

salinity 1.024 - 1.025

Alk 8-11
Alk is low and being a skeletal coral, CA is very importand as is flow/lightWhy do you recommend this?
In my experience hammers don't like zero nitrate/phosphate. They need more nutrients in water to be happyTested my calcium this morning with salifret and it was 490 tested alk with hanna checker and its 7.2 i use tropic marin salt. I dont know what to do? It appears as suspected when alk changed, so did hammer appearance. TM salt generally good with alk and the Pro is a little higher. Assure the phos you are adding is not upsetting the hammer. I raise by feeding and extending my maintenanceTested my calcium this morning with salifret and it was 490 tested alk with hanna checker and its 7.2 i use tropic marin salt. I dont know what to do? Why is do you prefer 1.025 versus 26? NSW is 1.026. What difference does it have on corals? Any studies about it?salinity best at 1.025 and alk is low- bring to at least 7.8-8.0

This. I keep mine @ 1.026Why is do you prefer 1.025 versus 26? NSW is 1.026. What difference does it have on corals? Any studies about it?
I think it was a typo. He meant phosphate but I am curious if any good proven studies comparing salinity levels? The only thing .025 offers is a little buffer so you don't go over and I know salt mixes typically say 1.025 for optimal solution mixing but I try to copy the ocean whenever possible.This. I keep mine @ 1.026
And nitrate should be >1 not < .1
Oops- 10, not .10This. I keep mine @ 1.026
And nitrate should be >1 not < .1
Room for error is why my tank is at 1.025. Should my digital be off by the typical +/- 1 - puts me in safe rangeWhy is do you prefer 1.025 versus 26? NSW is 1.026. What difference does it have on corals? Any studies about it?
Ok that's what I was thinking but you have a booming LPS tank so thought maybe 1.025 gave you an edge somehow....yes I steal trade secrets like a fiend.Room for error is why my tank is at 1.025. Should my digital be off by the typical +/- 1 - puts me in safe range
