Time to upgrade our reef tank!! We were gifted a 200 gallon and we are almost done collecting everything we need to fire it up!
We just just picked up 2 Viparsectra t300 (the long 3 foot units).
We have noticed that a significant amount of heat is radiating from the light. Im concerned that the lights will increase the temperature of the water.
Any chance truth to my suspicions?
How high off the water should it be?
Im going to rent a par meter when its time to put everything together but im still concerned about heat.

It can and means too close in some instances

Yes it can. Used to be a big concern with metal halides. Less of a concern with LEDs but still possible.
