I currently own 3 ReefBrite TECH 50/50s

2 x12"
1 x 48"

I'd like to do two things. 1) Use only a single power supply for all 3. And 2) use only one controller interface module for connection to a controller.

My assumption (hope) is that this can be done. As long as I buy a power supply that can handle all 3 lights and a cable splitter. Though I'm not sure where to look for a quality version either of these things. Is this even possible? Or am I smoking something funky?

Contacted Reef Brite and they say yes, with at least a 120w power supply. I'm going to add another 72" in the future so I went with these. Thoughts?

yep that'll work!

Awesome thanks! I'm assuming a larger PS isn't an issue? One reason I ask is my Kessil H380 has a power supply that runs REALLY hot. Especially compared to the a360we. I always wondered if I could get a larger one to relax some of that heat/stress?

The heat can be caused by many things, over drawing can be one. Using a larger supply may not fix the issue. I would try a small fan pointed at it first.

Yeah, I keep a fan in the back for power supplies. Plenty of flow through there. It seems to mitigate the issue but I wasn't sure if I should try upgrading or just not worry about it.

@dantimdad

So I just want to confirm, since I'm going to add a 72" Lumi Light to this chain. Reef Brite customer service confirmed its ~1w per inch. So 114w total would be fine with a 120 power adapter. And since I bought a 240, I should be golden? Also, the splitter is rated to 5A. And 114w is much less than 5A...

Sooooo assuming all that is correct: I think the only unknown is how much the controller interface module can handle. I'd assume less than 120 would be fine... wish I knew for sure. (Reef Brite didn't get back to me on that.) All I see is thats its 24V

(thanks for the help btw)

@smartwater101 How is this working? So all you need is a power supply and that cable and you can daisy chain to one plug? Any other useful details?

Were you able to split the power for the RB?

Interested to find out cause I have two xr15 sets and I want to run on one bluetooth controller.

Where you able to split the controller?

Yes I was able to split the controller with a 24v power supply that I purchased.
