Can reef tank lights burnout bacterial bloom

So it seems backwards and I've never heard of this before but it was suggested that higher intensity lights could burn out a bacterial bloom quicker then low intensity lights. Does that make any sense...?

Not sure how lights relate to the bacteria as they're not photosynthetic and dont care either way...
Except ofcourse if you're talking about UV lights

It was on an old there here I'll try to find it. It sounded crazy and didn't imply they meant UV light. Might have just been a typo on there part
