I have a problem with Zinc, Tin, and until recently, copper, according to ati icp. I did 2 tests, the first was ro directly from the filter, which had no contamination. The 2nd I took from my reservoir, and it showed more zinc than the main tank and no other contaminants. This is puzzling, as the reservoir is a large plastic container with few possible sources of contamination. It does have a Reeflo Dart, which is used for mixing salt water and can be a backup for the main return (a gold dart) should it fail. Both reeflos are overdue for seal kits, so I wonder if this could be how metal is getting into my tank. Do you think this is possible? If so, other people need to be aware.

I've never heard that a Reeflo pump might cause metal contamination. If the seals fail it will leak noticeably. If there is any seepage you'll have heavy salt creep.

Yes, definitely have salt creep and know my pump is at risk, but never thought the tank would be at risk.

Bearings usually have zink and tin in them. If the seal.is bad and the bearing is getting salt in it it could be leaching back into the tank I think they're called bobbits or babbits. It's a zink alloy bearing coating. I dont know if it's used on the bearings in the reeflo, but its definitly used in automotive bearings.

The evidence is the ro setup. It does have PVC plumbing, an ato topoff, a few high quality gate valves, but nothing else besides the reeflo. Zinc is twice what it is in the main system.

How long has the PVC been on the ATO res? It's known to leach zinc and I believe tin when it's fairly new. What are the levels shown on the ICP?

PVC has been attached almost 5 years.
There is no Tin in the RO water.
Zinc is 6.75 µg/l in the RO water and 3.48 in the tank.
