I saw a very nice tank that mixed scolymias and acan lords and they appeared to touch? Anybody have any experience with this? The mix looked very nice.

Acans dont have the sweeper tentacles of some corals. But they have been known to eject their stomachs to digest nearby corals. So i probably wouldnt have them touch personally.
I do not keep a large amount of lps so will also tag some others

Ok its 6:00 am only remembering 2 names, i need coffee lol

Acans can be dangerous to other LPS. I have seen them mixed with other LPS and it puzzled me. But I’d be careful putting acans near other LPS.

This is the pic that got me thinking. But how? Anybody knows who the owner of this tank is?

Baby sat a trachy for a friend for several months. Her red coris wrasse flipped a scoly over on top of it. Completely killed a part of it. The coral recovered, but the dead part is forever dead. Acans can touch acans, trachys can touch trachys, scolys can touch scolys, lobos can touch lobos Mix them and you're asking for trouble.

That's my Trachyphyllia radiata on the left snuggled up with my friend's Trachyphyllia geoffroy.

That picture looks off to me.

One it looks like its lit by a single prime by the mount, but the shadows are wrong. The bokeh seems inconsistent with areas of similar depth. Maybe i a wrong?

Looks fake to me also. At least staged for a picture then taken down.

i want to say more insidious than staged looks photoshopped.
This green slimer is creating a shadow on itself. But not anything on the coral below it. Given the saturation and contrast levels are adjusted at least 15% over what they should be. You should see some shadows of corals on top of corals. Where i do see shadow it look drawn on, as its really black.

Lets see. In my experience it can be iffy to let lps touch each other period.
My acans are all happy to touch and thrive, my scoly does not like anyone (although never touched anything too long as I tend to catch if having issues and move. Acans were nearby with little issue though.
My lobos in the past have been mixed. I had some that could touch each other, some that killed everything even other lobos. Crazy one now cannot touch or be near anything without trying to kill it.
My hammers, frogspawn, were mostly okay being close. My duncans hated touching things and would shy away and die. My torches do not like others either. Fight or die depending on what touch.

I try to keep everything away from my scoly. except sometimes acans will get moved by them by crabs. No issues yet.
