Hi Guys
I recently noticed that some turbo/Mexican snails died in my nano tank.
Tonight I saw my two shrimps (cleaner and fire) eating a turbo.
Could one of them have killed the snail?

The shrimp probably didn't kill the snail. It is just getting an easy meal. Do you have a lot of algae growing? I would say starvation is the number one cause of death for snails

Or not being able to right themselves and dying of starvation. I seem to spend a bit of time on "snail rescue" duty, which tends to make the peppermint shrimp upset at me ;)

Short answer yes they can kill a snail but a cleaner and fire shrimp are very unlikely to do so as they are bth pretty much cleaner shrimp. More likely the turbo died and they were cleaning it up for you. Craps are far more likely to take out a sanil for food or in the case of a hermit even though you have millions of shells for then they seem to like the snails homes better. Only to move in and realize they liked there old shell better.

The tissue of a healthy snail is actually pretty firm, so I'm not sure if the shrimp would be able kill it with those small claws they have. Also, if it's ever in trouble all it has to do is shut the door. Problem solved. Once it's dead though it's anybody's game.

My Turbo snails all died within a week. were eating like champs for 3 months. Parameters perfect. I bought 3 nassaris snails, 3 scarlett hermits, 3 emerald crabs, 2 cleaner shrimp all at the same time and they are all doing great. just the Turbos went.
