I moved an established tank to my house in early July. Battled diatoms for awhile and that went away. I'm thinking the tank did a "mini cycle" after the move. There was lots of algae before I moved the tank, and we have managed to battle it back to some extent. I can't seem to get ahead of the algae that is present now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've read the article on dino's, but I honestly don't know enough yet to understand it all.

I tested on Monday night.
Ammonia 0
ph 8.3
Nitrite 0
Phosphate .01
Nitrates 5

Looks like a geeen Cyano of the bat.
But if you feel it and scrape it does it come off kinda chunky ?

A slime alge. Yea , scrub. More snails. Bottled bacteria to curb the funk in the water. A little prime if you have it.

Thank you, Salty.
Can you be more specific about bottled bacteria or prime? Is that a product?

Yea. Prime is product by seachem. It binds ammonia and removes it from the system. I think it binds a few other things.
Bottled bacteria is just that. Dr tims one and only is one of my favorites. Bio spira is another more common one. It just acts as a booster for the bio filter , eats available ammonia and nitrates and phosphates.

Thanks. I found Dr. Tim's stuff. Is there a difference in One and Only, Re-Fresh and Waste Away? I saw something from Dr. Tim's that gave directions for removing cyano and algae, but it said to use Re-Fresh and Waste Away. Finally, I got my nitrates to 0 a week or two ago, and I was so proud. That is until I read on here not to let it get to zero. I put in a sump with cheato, does that change the equation?

Sorry for all the questions. Thanks for your time.

No sweat. You won’t need the other two. Just the one and only. Think , pro biotic.

The system will Catch up. It may take a couple months.
Toothbrush, more snails in the short term. See where it goes from there

Last question. I have livestock in the tank. CUC, clownfish, coral beauty angel and brittle star. Can you use One and Only in that instance?

Yes. It and prime are completely safe.
The DT tims is nitrifying bacterias exactly what you have in the tank as a bio filter.
If fact , if you stirred stuff up on the move etc, you want and kinda need it to remove ammonia. Ammonia is far worse.
