I see this all the time in posts but I have no idea what it's for. Help!

Thanks! How is it used?

tumbled in a reactor or simply in a bag in a high flow area.. the first option being more effective and efficient..

I had to ask once too.. we were all new once..

It can be placed in a small "reactor" or chamber with a slow bottom up recirculating water flow so it fluidizes or slightly tumbles the media so it does not clump up and all media and water containing the phosphates come into contact with each other eventually. Another option is place it in a fine mesh bag in a low to medium flow area like a HOB filter or inside the tank or sump where water passes through it. The media is pretty fragile so the flow has to be moderate or it grinds intself to red dust and looks like rust in your tank.

YouTube BRS they have a great series on biological/mechanical filtration.

Cheers,

Is it different than bio pellets?
