Can someone explain Tropic Marin hydrometer chart?

BRS has this chart in their tropic Marin glass hydrometer (high precision video and I want to understand it.

So my QT tank is running at 78F and the floating device hit 24 which means 1.024. But since it’s 78F and not 77F I need to use the chart.

What are these numbers and columns? What does the corresponding 34.1 mean?

It is a temperature compensation chart. I just don’t know how to interpret the results.

I think it means that if you measure 1.024 at 78 F, you are at 34.1 ppt

That was my first initial thought .
Knowing that ppt and sg are different .

Correct, then you can use a calculator to covert to sg:

So at 78 degrees, if you measure 1.024 on your hydrometer, your salinity is 1.0257 (sg)

Thanks guy! So that means higher temps make results on the hydrometer higher than they appear.

And then I convert it to sg.

Hmmm...something seems off about their chart. This is the chart I use for mine:

Looking at say a reading of 1.0240 @ 79 degrees (26.1 C), the BRS chart shows 34.3 ppt, whereas the Reefkeeping chart shows approx. 32.32 ppt, a difference of 1.0258 to 1.0243. That's a significant difference!

Looking at say a reading of 1.0240 @ 79 degrees (26.1 C), the BRS chart shows 34.3 ppt, whereas the Reefkeeping chart shows approx. 32.32 ppt, a difference of 1.0258 to 1.0243. That's a significant difference!

I think yours is correct. I was annoyed at how they marketed this tester. I edited my post above but I was saying: thermometers are usually +/- 2F.

But this made me feel good.

I love how precise the TM Hydrometer is. I use it for calibrating everything else. Hopefully RHF will weigh in on the reference charts, but I'm assuming he will confirm it's his that's correct.

According to the chart, i read it as that you have 34.1ppt (salinity) or 1.0257 specific gravity. whether the chart is correct, i don't know, but it's close IMO.

This chart is incorrect, the one posted below by @DivingTheWorld is correct.
