I have an echinata about 4 years old. It’s grows well, spread to maybe 4x its original # of heads over that time. I never see a feeding response when I offer food/pellets/roids, it opens wide with tentacles out after lights out. It sits fairly high in my tank under high light (approx 250 par) and high flow. Note I said it’s growing well.
[tongue firmly in cheek] This is wrong, and that’s why it needs a talking to! All the books, care guides, websites say low-mod light, low-mod flow, similar to what micromussa/acan lords need. The books also say it should show a strong feeding response. My acan has not read or learned how to do it right.
Relatedly (and my real issue) is I have tried acan lords several times in several different places in my tank: spots similar to my happy healthy echinata, and at lower flow, light, or both. The acans always dwindle away. Why can I not keep acans if my echinata is happy???
