No the brown thing with like little stripes it's hard to see should I try and get another picture

Yes that thing and is it good or bad or doesn't it affect anything?

It's just part of the rock now. At one point it was living but you've got nothing to worry about, it's just additional surface area at this point.

You mean the live rock is now dead? Or there was some kind of coral or somthing there before sorry if it sounds like a stupid question still pretty new to this stuff

It's not stupid, a lot of this can be quite confusing when you're learning. Your love rock is still "live" I meant that the coral is dead (probably has been for some time) and is part of the rock.
